Passion Services

On Tuesday 26th March we held our Passion services for the whole school. The theme of our Passion Service this year was “The Eyes Of Mercy” in which we focused on the immeasurable love and forgiveness that Christ has for us.

We reflected on this with readings, psalms and hymns on this theme, as well as a live dramatic reading voice acted by a group of Year 7 students which was based around St Peters journey following Jesus, up to his denial of Christ before his crucifixion. In this drama, we reflected on how, even in the depths of our rejection of Christ, we, like St Peter, are still looked at with eyes of mercy and forgiveness and that no fear should keep us from him.

Please see below for a summary of our Lent programme for 2024..

Lent Programme 2024

Our Lenten programme was run in School over a period of six weeks. Each week had a theme, a focus and an opportunity to be involved in either an act of collective worship, sacramental experience or faith in action.

Week 1 was an introduction to Lent and an invitation to take up the Little By Little Calendar Challenge in which students could pick one small, simple act of service or sacrifice to do each day of the 40 days of Lent.

Week 2 we celebrated thankfulness and gratitude by writing a short message to people who we have been inspired or helped by.

Week 3 was an encouragement to spend more time in prayer. The chapel was open as usual for prayer at break and lunchtimes and to write on the prayer wall. There was also a chance for RE classes to experience Eucharistic Adoration.

Week 4 we focused on giving and collected for Wimbledon Foodbank. There were also a number of other charity events this week (and throughout Lent) for other charities.

Week 5 we celebrated the forgiveness of God and there chance to sign up and go to confession during the first half of the day. Fr David and Fr Matthew heard these confessions in the chapel.

We concluded in our final week with our Passion Services.
