University Applications

Ursuline Sixth Form supports students through the entire university application process.

Applying to Oxbridge, Cambridge, Russell Group Universities and Medical School

Students wishing to apply to the prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group universities or to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, attend a weekly programme giving extensive advice and support during the application and interview process. All applicants to Oxbridge and medical school attend a mock interview with the Headteacher and / or other senior leaders


The designated Oxbridge Co-ordinator identifies potential Oxbridge candidates from GCSE point scores. These students are then invited to attend weekly sessions, where they receive advice and guidance on the rigorous Oxbridge application process.

Medical School

For medical school applications, a programme is delivered by the Medical Co-ordinator. This includes talks from visiting speakers and visits to medical departments and practise for BMAT exams. In addition, Students wishing to pursue clinical careers such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Radiography or Physiotherapy are supported in their preparation with their applications by our Getting into Medicine Scheme led by staff from University Medical Schools, with support from clinicians and senior staff from the Science Faculty.

For medical and dentistry school applications, the school partners with Medic Mind to provide support and guidance for all stages of the application process from; drafting a personal statement, preparing for admissions tests such as UCAT and BMAT and mock interviews. The programme also includes talks from visiting speakers and students are encouraged and supported in Year 11 and Year 12 to find relevant work experience and work shadowing placements in medical settings.
