London Youth Games Speaker

Congratulations to Maeve G (10M) who was recently invited by the London Youth Games Team Manager to speak publicly about her experiences representing Merton through the London Youth Games Squash team, her journey in sport locally, and the wider impact that school sport has had on her development.

Maeve spoke incredibly confidently and authentically about her involvement in sport across Merton, highlighting both the opportunities she has been given and the positive influence school sport has had on her personally. She was a fantastic ambassador not only for Merton sport but also for Ursuline High School.

Maeve also spoke about her time volunteering through the Duke of Edinburgh programme at our free girls-only football sessions. She explained how supporting younger participants has helped her develop leadership skills, confidence and a deeper appreciation of the impact that positive sporting environments can have on girls. It was brilliant to see her articulate the importance of creating inclusive, supportive spaces for young people in sport.

Maeve had the opportunity to speak directly with Caroline Cooper-Marbiah, Cabinet Member for Sport in Merton, along with other key stakeholders from across the borough. She represented herself and her school with real maturity and passion, and it was clear how much her sporting journey means to her.
