Chaplaincy Update

All secondary schools and colleges were invited to the Good Samaritan Mass in late April at St George’s Cathedral, with Archbishop John Wilson as the main celebrant. This event celebrated charitable works and the relationship between the Diocesan Education Commission and the Catholic Children’s Society.

Twenty Ursuline students attended and enjoyed tourist-style photo opportunities afterward. The Year 11 end-of-year celebration service in our School Hall featured items representing their time at Ursuline, with explanations from nominated students, marking their transitions. The Year 13 celebrated their leavers Mass in Sacred Heart, celebrated by Fr Matthew, used readings for the feast of the Ascension, with each form group sharing symbolic items. We hosted Fr Matthew for our voluntary Mass of the Ascension in the school chapel, with students participating by reading, altar serving, and singing. The Mass was well attended by staff and students.

End-of-year Masses for the entire school were hosted on site at Ursuline to celebrate a mass of thanksgiving for the year’s accomplishments. On July 8th, Sacred Heart Church hosted the Commissioning Service of Mr Kelly, presided over by Cannon David Gibbons, followed by a reception.
