The Ursuline Sixth Form Provision Rated as Outstanding by Ofsted

Ofsted has officially graded our sixth form provision as ‘outstanding’. They recognise that our pupils ‘embody the school motto of serviam’ and that our ‘sixth form students help younger pupils to explore their career options.’

Regarding the quality of teaching and learning, Ofsted state, ‘teachers in the sixth form expect the very best from their students’, and we are happy they acknowledged that our staff ‘use their subject expertise to check students’ understanding and deepen their knowledge.’ As a result of this high-quality educational provision, they found that our sixth form ‘students write and speak with maturity, explaining their learning in-depth. They understand and use technical and specialist vocabulary, including in vocational subjects.’

We are also delighted they recognised the personal growth of our students and noted in their report that ‘students have lively debates and discussions in lessons such as PSHE. Teachers check pupils’ understanding of important knowledge, for instance, what they have learned in relationships and sex education. Students told inspectors that this gives them the confidence to speak up about issues that matter to them.’
