Royal Albert Hall

What an extraordinary evening of music to celebrate Merton Music's long-awaited return to The Royal Albert Hall recently!

A huge congratulations to Juliana Eugenia and Laura who had the great honour being part of it!

Here's what they had to say...

Eugenia and Laura: We are part of the senior string ensemble called String Sinfonia and we performed with the other string ensembles of medley of Vivaldi’s four seasons, this was by far the hardest piece but the one that we enjoyed the most. We put a lot of hard work into it and it sounded really good. We also performed a medley of the famous songs “Yesterday”, and “Billy Jean” with the guitars. In the second half, we took part in Turning Points which was a musical journey detailing the changes in society such as the industrial revolution and the invention of the lightbulb. It was a great experience, and we hope to be back for RAH 2026! We will never forget it!

Juliana: I play the flute in the massed concert band and JazzWorks. I performed ‘We are Family’, and ‘Thank you for the Music’ with the massed concert band which I enjoyed so much. I played ‘Blue Nile’ with my Jazz band and we also partnered up with the junior jazz band and we did a lot of improvisation, such as making up our own backings and improvising solos which I found so much fun but also quite nerve-wracking at the beginning. My favourite piece was Blue Nile by Alice Coltrane. I look forward to what comes next!
