Year 9 Retreat Day

I really enjoyed the trainers game and trying to produce money to win, even though our group started with the least we managed to end in 3rd place.” Year 9 Student

Year 9 Retreat Day was on the theme of 'Social Justice and Climate Change'. The day was based around the prayer of St Teresa of Avila, ‘Christ has no hands but yours’, which we reflected on throughout the day.

We began with a social justice game called ‘training trainers’, in which each ‘family’ had to produce trainers to sell, but there is injustice from the start in terms of money and resources. It helped the students to see the injustice in the world and the importance of working for equality.

The second part of the day focused on the sustainability goals, discussing which had been met. In groups, students had to choose one and decide how they would achieve it. The day concluded with a climate change quiz.
