DofE Update

Silver Success

This Easter, our Year 10/11 Silver Duke of Edinburgh students completed their qualifying 3 day expedition to the Black Mountains in Wales. Our girls showed outstanding resilience in battling the elements and climbing the Welsh landscape, all passing their expedition phase and working together to navigate across the 3 day hike. Bronze Award

Our Year 10 Bronze Award students have made a solid start to their Expedition phases this term, with our first groups already well underway with their training in partnership with the Merton Duke of Edinburgh Centre. Map skills, compass bearings and emergency procedures all feature significantly in their training, and students have the opportunity to put these skills to practice during training sessions and practice walks with staff and volunteers at Box Hill National Trust. Well done to our first groups who successfully conquered Box Hill on their full practice expedition weekend this half term, and Good Luck to all of our girls completing both further practice and qualifying expeditions in the coming weeks.
