Chaplain Update

Christmas Message

We have had a full backed half term including of advent services, reconciliation services, foodbank collections and film afternoon. In our film afternoon we raised £1700 which will be spilt between;

Momentum Children’s Charity
Small Steps
Downs Syndrome Association
St Raphael’s Hospice
Wimbledon Guild

We collected 966 items for the food bank!

Christmas this year will be different for all of us and not necessarily what we hoped for! But maybe it is a chance for us to refocus on what is important.

I’m sure the very first Christmas wasn’t what Mary had hoped for, giving birth in a cold, dark, smelly stable and her first guests were a group of shepherds! Not exactly the giving birth experience you would expect when you are the mother of God’s son. But what joy that baby brought, salvation for the world!

So when we sit around our smaller Christmas celebrations this year let us think of the Holy family. Let the sacrifices we have had to make reflect the sacrifices made by Mary and Joseph and let the joy we share mirror the joy bought by the baby Jesus bought.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a happy and holy Christmas.

Keep safe and well!

Ms Murphy
