The World of Work!

Year 7 had an exciting careers morning exploring the World of Work on Thursday 27th June. They were delighted to hear from Marlene Boateng, from *Berkley Homes* who shared her career journey so far and highlighted the importance of a can do attitude and flexibility. Students also learnt from her all about Careers in Construction & The Property Development Cycle and the skills future employers are looking for. They continued the morning exploring the variety of jobs that exist across many industries, understanding the importance of different subjects and how they apply to the working world. They committed to different actions to develop their behaviour and skills to improve their future opportunities in the workplace. Read More

Remembering Grenfell!

A service for the victims of the Grenfell tower fire was held today in the Chapel organised by some Year 10 students. Prayers were said to remember all those affected by the tragedy, which took place two years ago, and 72 candles lit in memory of those who lost their lives. Read More

Outstanding Oxbridge!

On Tuesday we took a group of Year 10 students to visit Merton College, Oxford as part of the UHS Oxbridge Programme (to inspire them young!). They had a talk on university life and degree choices generally, followed by a focus on Oxbridge. Year 10 Accenture Work Experience!

30 students in Year 10 attended a fantastic day at Accenture, Wallace Space office. Throughout the day they took part in a variety of challenging tasks designed to test their skills in; problem solving, numeracy, communication, listening, research lateral thinking, journey planning, consequential thinking and analysis. They worked in teams with multiple mentors and inspirational speakers throughout the day and used their presentation skills to feedback conclusions to a judging panel, gaining feedback. Good Samaritan Mass

On Wednesday 1st May the Year 7 Chaplaincy Team represented the school the *Good Samaritans Mass* at Southwark Cathedral with over 20 others schools from the diocese. The Mass, which was celebrated by Archbishop Peter Smith, celebrated all the charitable work done by the schools during lent and thanked them for all they do to support others. Read More

7 Catherine travelled to St Angela’s in Forest Gate for part two of their Insieme Day exchange. The day explored the similarities we have as Ursuline schools and the importance of togetherness. Year 9 Desenzano Retreat

Year 9 Desenzano retreat was on the theme of ‘Building Community’. During our retreat the students reflected on their personal faith through prayer and discussion. They had the opportunity to discuss what it means to be an Ursuline with the students from Ursuline Ilford and built relationships. They also took part in a CAFOD climate change session discussing how they can make a positive change in our world. Through all these activities they worked on their team building skills and we also spent time socialising together to help form friendships within their Chaplaincy team. Read More

St Angela Feast Day Celebrations

We had a fantastic 2019 St Angela celebration on the theme of building community. Within our Masses we reflected on how we serve others in our community to live out Serviam and learnt about the global Ursuline community we are part of. This will link to our Lent them where we will be supporting the Ursuline school in the Congo. At each of the Masses, the students were presented with a wristband that said be ‘strong and courageous’ as a special gift for the Feast Day. Year 7 Ethos Day

Year 7 had a fabulous (annual) Ethos Day exploring the Ursuline values of respect, kindness, generosity, perseverance, gratitude and mercy. In groups they learned more about our patrons St Angela and St Ursula, they then presented their research through the choice of visual displays and dramas. Global Reading Project Launch

On Friday 25th January, Ursuline High School launched their new Global Reading Project in the LRC. The project was organised in response to an increased demand by students for our LRC to stock a wider range of international writers. Christmas Donations for Kids on the Green

After the Grenfell tragedy occurred which killed an estimated 72 people. A group of friends (Niamh , Kiah , Keira & Poppy) wanted a give a small token to show we still care even after 18 months and so they decided to donate over 40 presents for the kids on the green Christmas party. Read More

Year 8 Retreat Day

Year 8 had fantastic Retreat Days(s) based around the theme of ‘Building Bridges- with friends, community and family. Thinking about relationships and where bridges might be broken and need mending. The day also included friendship dramas, a family portrait session and a team building challenge- building paper bridges effective enough to allow a small ball to travel across unhindered (above). 15 Year 9 German students had the chance to spend the day at the *Deutsche Schule* in Richmond on Tuesday 15th January, attending lessons and experiencing life in a German school. Christmas Carol Service

It was lovely to come together with *Wimbledon College* for our annual *Christmas Carol Service* last night at* Sacred Heart Church*. Choirs from both schools gave amazing performances and the classics such as ‘Silent Night’ and ‘O’ Little Town of Bethlehem’ were sung with much enthusiasm and greatly enjoyed by all those in attendance. Christmas Tree Service

A lovely *Christmas Tree Service* was held in the Chapel to mark the start of advent coordinated by Ms Murphy, our Chaplain. Over the October half term Agatha, Ruby-June, Solenn and Kristal were part of a group of eight students from various Ursuline Schools who went to New Orleans to work alongside the Ursuline Sisters from the USA and rebuild houses for those still affected by Hurricane Katrina. Read More
