On Friday the Yr12 Politics students visited the Houses of Parliament for a private tour and workshop.

Most of the students had never visited Parliament before and were impressed by the size of it - one of the roof spaces alone holds the equivalent of 6 miles of records! Their tour guide showed them around both the House of Commons and House of Lords - students were surprised at how small the House of Commons is and impressed by how much gold there is in the Lords. The highlight of the trip was sitting in the public gallery and watching a debate in the House of Commons, although students were disappointed that no 'famous' politicians were taking part.

Our day ended with a quick tour of the Supreme Court, which is opposite Parliament - any member of the public is able to visit and the Yr12's recommend it, as they got sit in the actual court rooms and seats used by the judges!
