Encouraging students to take an active part in their own learning and career planning is at the heart of the philosophy of the Careers Department. The department provides support and guidance to the students at times of decision making and transition.

The school has a well resourced careers and guidance base. We have many active links with local employers and Further and Higher Education institutions who play an active role in the structured programme of careers advice. This includes a two-week work experience placement in Year 11,  a work-shadowing scheme in Year 12 or work placements for those on vocational courses. The majority of our pupils remain with us for Sixth Form education and benefit from the specialist advice available for university entrance including Oxbridge, Russell Group Universities, Medical School and other specialist courses.
